Durango is a town set right on the edge of towering mountains and high desert, you'll find cactus next to snow and some hikes can take from you from juniper trees to tundra in a few miles. The famous Narrow Gauge Railway train ride will take you along the beautiful Animas River through stunning canyons, aspen, pine, and end up in the tiny mountain town of Silverton.
