Montezuma's Castle Photo Print, Southwest Photography

Montezuma's Castle in north central Arizona, on a warm summer day. 

I first visited Montezuma's Castle when I lived in Arizona as a child and was completely fascinated by cliff houses found all over the Southwest and the ancient history of this continent. Montezuma's Castle was my first and is still my favorite cliff house. On the trip where I took this photo I had the honor of dragging two British people behind me while I showed them some of my favorite childhood monuments in Arizona. 

"Montezuma Castle National Monument protects a set of well-preserved dwellings located in Camp Verde, Arizona, which were built and used by the Sinagua people, a pre-Columbian culture closely related to the Hohokam and other indigenous peoples of the southwestern United States, between approximately AD 1100 and 1425. The main structure comprises five stories and about 20 rooms and was built over the course of three centuries."
