Finding simplicity in nature, as complicated as it is, is a skill all its own. This Pre-flight Wishes Photograph is a detail of a plant in a Montana bird preserve. The light was just right, and I realized that this plant was full of what I would have called wishes as a child. I spent many summers making wishes on these seed-carrying puffballs and practically jumping in front of cars to catch them. Some of my dreams came true, others did not, but I still find "wishes" a fascinating lore to believe in.
