Black and White Desert Photography, Film Photo, The Wave Arizona

This photo features some of the strange rock formations found around The Wave, a popular and yet unpopular hike and natural wonder on the Arizona Utah border. Shot on black and white film and not far from the main attraction, the entire area is filled with odd formations and amazing patterns that I think are complimented better than in if they had been shot in color. It's a long drive to a medium length hike in the sandy desert to reach The Wave, and you have to have a special permit of which they only give out 20 a day. We got our pass unexpectedly because we were in the area and it was an unpopular time to visit, mid July. Very hot and dangerous but once you reach the Wave its shade gives you a much needed break before your walk back (assuming you arrive at the right part of the day). On our hike back to the car we were lucky enough to get a little rain and had just enough water, July is not the time of year I would recommend others to visit, but beautiful nonetheless.
